Scéalta is a concept website built for my Interactive Digital Media dissertation. It explores interactive motion comics as a way to preserve and retell Irish folklore. Limited animation, narration, interactivity and sound bring the story of Labhraidh Loingseach to life while honouring the oral tradition.

Preserving an oral tradition through an interactive medium
Irish folklore has historically been passed down through spoken word. Scéalta uses the motion comic format as a bridge between that tradition and the possibilities of the web.
What is a motion comic?
A motion comic is a digital comic that uses limited animation to add movement to individual panels. Being digital, it can also carry sound, narration and interactivity that a printed comic cannot.
How it was built
Scéalta was built across a combination of tools.
- Procreate — all artwork for panels and characters
- Unity with Panopoly — panel animation and assembly of the motion comic
- HTML, CSS & JavaScript — the surrounding website that delivers the experience in the browser
